It is fall as I write about my
latest ventures as an artist. That another year
is nearly passed is testament to the fact that days,
weeks, and months quickly pass when one is having
fun!
What
better fun is there for an artist than to PAINT?!
This year I am happy to report that I have spent more
time in my studio than usual. Thanks to a cool, wet
spring that delayed the start of the garden season, I
was able to remain at my easel until well into May.
This unexpected luxury allowed me to complete a
stunning series of Delphinium canvases plus start a
new round of landscapes and florals (more lilacs!).
All in all, I kept a steady pace in my studio until
it came time to garden.
As much as
I like being outdoors and gardening, I admit to being
an artist at
heart. While I love to garden, I love painting more!
So it was that continued poor weather patterns
allowed me to paint when otherwise I'd be gardening.
Suffice to say, I was not disappointed! I took
advantage of the inclement weather by painting my
heart out on big canvases and small. I reorganized my
studio and tackled projects that have long needed my
attention. In short, I indulged in the creative
process, a goal that I consciously set for myself
when the year began.
Apart from
painting, I continue to digitally record my early
portfolio. Whereas the project is challenging, I am
making good progress. Work that dates as far back as
elementary and high school is slowly being
documented, and I have begun to upload some of these
images to this website. Years ago I was told that
someday I would have my own personal museum, so, I am
realizing this vision in a beginning stage in what I
am calling a Virtual Museum. This on-line 'documentary'
about my artistic ventures from grade school to the
present promises to be an on-going project. So it is
that I welcome you to the LIVING Art Virtual Museum where you can learn more about
my early beginnings as an artist and view work that
has not been shown before. Visit often my new Virtual Museum often and bring your friends!
As for
exhibitions, this year I chose to mainly concentrate
on pursuing my own productivity rather than
participate in numerous shows. Engaging in the
creative process is an experience that is personally
rewarding, affording one a sense of accomplishment
that can only be described as fulfilling. When I am
satisfied as an artist, then I know that those who
view my art will be, also. Thus I believe that I have
a mission and a responsibility to maintain a level of
artistic excellence that will ultimately have a
positive impact upon the world.
In an
effort to share my new work, I will close the year
with a solo exhibit of recent and not-so-recent
paintings at the Maine General Medical Center,
Waterville. If you are in the area, please stop by to
see my show. Visit my exhibits page for more information.
In closing, thank you the
opportunity to share my LIVING
Art with
you. It is a joy to find others who appreciate my
work. Your faithful support is encouraging. My hope
is to be a blessing to you in person as well as in
paint. After all, that's what living
art is all about
