Spring is slowly arriving in
Maine. As warmer temperatures melt winter memories
away, we gladly forget the cold and snow in favor of
savoring time outdoors in the friendly sun. Yes, it's
great to be alive...to experience life in the fullest
sense. 2008 is proving to be an exceptional year for
me and one that I want to share with you in some way.
2008 began with great fanfare as
I installed my on-going show at The Framemakers in
Waterville. Owner and propietor, Bill Taylor,
selected me as 'Artist of the Year' to enjoy the
distinct privilege of displaying my work in his
trendy frame shop for the entire calendar year of
2008. What a treat! A show opening in early February
was a big hit. I met many wonderful people and the
reviews of my works continue to be enthusiastic. If
you're in town, stop by to see my exhibit. New work
is being hung periodically.
Coming in May is another solo
exhibit...this time at Camden Public Library. I am
thankful for the opportunity to show in picturesque
Camden. The gallery space is well suited for my work
and an opening is planned for mid May. Look for an
announcement as May comes our way.
Speaking of May, recently I was
approached by a Maine publisher to appear on the
cover of their publication, 'Memories of Maine.' I
was delighted. My painting, Two
Cent Bridge, will be the cover
design for their May edition. Another of my paintings
will also appear on the inside cover along with a
short biography of myself. If you're local, look for
a copy on the newsstand toward the end of April.
True to my goal for 2008, I am
spending more time at my work...keeping a steady pace
in the studie and on the computer. Keeping up with my
portfolio is nearly a full time job as I continue to
have my complete portfolio transfered to digital
files. This is a monumental task, considering that I
have painted professionally for over thirty five
years. As time permits, I am editing files and
uploading new images on this website. Check in once
and awhile to see what is new!
Though garden season is fast
approaching, I hope to keep my studio time intact. As
much as I love gardening, my heart is to paint. A
garden is a work of art of another sort and one that
I do incorporate into my painting. I work at
balancing these two worlds for the benefit of all.
In an effort to spend more time
on my art, I resigned as Chairwoman of our art
society's annual show. I will be participating in a
few spring shows and keep a rotating exhibit of
paintings at our local library.
In closing, thank you the
opportunity to share my Living
Art with
you. It is a joy to find others who appreciate my
work. Your faithful support is encouraging. My hope
is to be a blessing to you in person as well as in
paint. After all, that's what living
art is all about.
